Creating General Ledger Accounts

General Ledger Accounts


The Books platform allows you to generate General Ledger (GL) accounts to tie into your accounting software. This is another way to see how your costs/expenses are generated over time. Refer to the steps below to set up General Ledger Accounts.

  1. Log into Books.
  2. Navigate to AccountingChart of Accounts

  3. Click the + Add Account button in the top, right corner


                                                                                  
  4. Enter in the Account Number and Account Name. For Account Type, select the kind of account that is being created (e.g. Income, Expenses, Cost of Goods Sold, etc.). Then, if applicable, enter in the Tax % number, as well as the Subaccount of (as named in your accounting software). These should be an exact match.



  5. Confirm by clicking the Add Account button. 

Note:  Account names can always be updated after the fact by clicking the blue link containing the Account Number/Account Name.

Things to Keep in Mind

  • Account Names and Account Numbers must be unique
  • If you have added a new store within your Director account, Craftable can copy the Chart of Accounts from one store to another. If you'd like this done for you, submit the request via this link, and Craftable Customer Care will take care of this for you!
