Production Preps
The Craftable Production Preps module calculates your prep needs based on projected sales, using historical sales data for each day of the week to provide accurate prep quantities for your items.
This article covers:
Creating Production Preps
- Navigate to Production> Production Recipes.
- Select the “+New Production Recipe” option and input the name of a Prep Item’s recipe for use.
Note: Only recipes designated as Prep Items are usable. If a recipe doesn’t appear, ensure it is created as a Prep Item under Inventory > Prep Items. - After selecting a recipe, choose a Container to measure your Production Prep (e.g., Pan for weight, Platter for servings). Next, select a Size (the container’s dimensions) and set the Container Capacity (how much Production Prep it holds).
- Next, you will have the option to select "Enforce Pan Sizing" for all or specific stores. This setting doesn’t allocate Production Prep to a store but restricts measurement edits. When enabled, stores, where the Prep Item is available, can view but not modify measurement fields; if disabled, stores can edit all fields except the selected recipe.
- Once finished, perform a Store Sync to sync these changes.

Daily Projection
Daily Projections are available at the Store level and should be entered daily.
- Navigate to Production > Daily Production
- Production is calculated fresh each day and you must enter your On Hand amount for Craftable to calculate if any Make is required.
If you have enough On Hand to make it through what Crafatable calculates you need for today, you'll see a dash (-) in the Make column, indicating you do not need to prep this item. But if your On Hand is less than your forecasted amount Craftable will look at the Shelf Life of the recipe and advise you to make the quantity that will fulfill your forecasted need for the item for the duration of the shelf life of the product, thus minimizing the number of times you need to prep the dish.
Example:
My Cole Slaw recipe has a shelf life of 2 days.
On Thursday I'm Forecasted to need 2 lbs, but I still have 2.5 lbs On Hand that morning, my Make will be "-" meaning I do not need to prep it.
On Friday I'm Forecasted to need 3.5 lbs, and I have .5 lbs On Hand. My Make will be "8" - 3 lbs to get me to my 3.5 for the day, plus another 5 lbs that I'm projected to need for Saturday's projected sales.
Note that the numbers provided in the example above are theoretical, the calculations will depend on your historic PMIX sales and your projected sales figures. Additionally the projections are specific to each day - if you do a majority of your business on Friday and Saturday you will be projected to need more on those days than other days.
